THE SLOWEST TRAIN IN THE WORLD - THE DANCE OF ANTOINE (DELUXE EDITION)

“How can we make available—every hour of the day, and all over the globe—a big box marked FREE?”

The Dance of Antoine was the first album ever to be released exclusively on the Internet. Ever. I always have a hard time phrasing that sentence. Especially now, because the idea is so commonplace. I mean now you can download any album ever. You can either pay for it or you can steal it. You can still buy CDs or vinyl nowadays, but you could never do that with Antoine. This was 1994. A few months before it was put out there on the interwebs, A Western Front’s Full Bown Davewas the first album ever to be released on the Internet. Ever. The distincion between the two is the word “exclusively”. Full Blown Dave was also available in stores, on CD. Bab was behind both firsts. Beyond being a brilliant songwriter, musician, and engineer, he was a true pioneer. Before iTunes, before Napster, before MP3s… there was Bab and his (and bif and mouse and stove and dale and dave’s) music… on the Internet….

It was also FREE—which is a good story. It was also totally amazing. This album stands on its own as one of the very best ever recorded, no matter how it was released, or who made it. It is stunning.

For the first time, Quagmire offers a “Deluxe Edition” of The Dance of Antoine. This package features premium DRM free 320kbps MP3s, a special digital booklet with original liner notes, album cover, and an hour long interview with Bab about the making of Antoine recorded in 2007. All for FREE.

Enjoy, and as always. Tell everyone you know!

BAB - POURQUOI? LIQUOI? SISZ BOOM BA! (DELUXE EDITION)

“it was the freakydeakyest of times… it is the worst of times…”

Pourquoi? Liquoi? Sisz Boom Ba! by Bab was recorded during the spring, summer, and fall of 2001 in the little, hot house in Los Gatos, CA. It has never been officially released. Presented here for the first time, is the Deluxe version of the album. Tim Alexander (Bab) had worked out a final order for a release in 2010. This version was edited from the original two disc recording that was passed around in 2001. Included here is the album Bab intended to release, plus an additional album of all the outtakes. Also included is a 45 page book of liner notes, emails, lyrics, and photos that tell the incredible story how this very special and personal masterpiece happened. You will have to read it to believe it. We had always talked about releasing this album on the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I suddenly felt an obligation to follow through…

The songs have not been edited or mastered. They are taken from the orginal bab mixes.

A WESTERN FRONT - THE KING IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING

King Candy likes his music “shiny, sweet, and so good to eat.”

The King is Dead, Long Live the King by A Western Front was the first album released by Quagmire in 1992. It marked the beginning of the new “in-sound”. This was not AWF’s first album, but it was their most twinkly to date, which accounts for something. Featuring the songs Heavens Ocean, Immanuel’s Mother, Burn the Pop Start Down, Pump The Lemon Barrel, and Hair, the album is a cornucopia of healthy fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other harvest foods. It’s pure power-pop. Listening to the King is Dead is like someone jamming lit sparklers into your speakers and you don’t give a shit… because it’s all part of the show!

“You gotta love a group that abandons precision in its quest for power.” – Guitar Player Magazine

“Quite the little corker!” – Alternative Press
